Michael Morgan, age 74 of Lowell, passed away Wednesday March 5, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Morgan; mother, Thelma Morgan; sisters, Barb Hardy, Shelby Williams, Alice Atcherson; brother, Lowell Morgan. Michael is survived by his wife, Catherine Morgan; children, Joe Morgan, Jason (Rachel) Morgan, Justin (Karen) Morgan; grandchildren, Autumn Morgan, Hayden Lenard, Braeden Johanek, Eva Morgan, Alivia (Michael) Hawley, Ethan Morgan, Chase Morgan, Dawson Morgan, Makenna Morgan, Luke Stevenson; great grandson, Bentley Hawley; sisters, Patti (Charlie) Craig, Joann Pifer; brother-in-law, Jack Warner; sister-in-law, Shawn Warner; many beloved nieces and nephews; many close friends; furry companions, dog- Chi; and cats, Janie, Ivy, and Oscar.
Michael retired as a Staff Sergeant; E6 after 34 years of dedicated service. Michael served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal with a bronze star, Overseas Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement, Army Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal. He served in the National Guard as well. Michael also graduated from Davenport University with an associate degree in Business Management. He then proceeded to start his own business.
Michael’s favorite hobby was flying gliders. He loved to share his passion with many family members and friends. He loved to paint and repair cars which included his pride and joy, a 1978 CJ5. He was known for his handyman skills and could fix just about anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed biking and traveling. Above all he treasured the time spent with his family. Michael attended South Boston Bible Church where he made many friends. He was a faithful follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus. Michael will be missed dearly; he taught many life lessons to his children and grandchildren; essential life skills to others around him; and he taught his Sons how to succeed in life.
Family will be greeting friends and relatives from 6-8pm Friday, March 14, 2025, at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson St, Lowell, Michigan 49331. Funeral Services will take place at 12pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at South Boston Church, 6958 Kyser Rd, Lowell, Michigan 49331, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Cory Malone officiating. Interment South Boston Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made out to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or Ionia County Animal Shelter, 3853 Sparrow Dr, Ionia, MI 48846.

I had no idea that Uncle Mike had so many accomplishments in his life. To the persons that wrote the obituary, thank you for sharing his life. It sounds like the family was truly blessed with the gift of Uncle Mike. I do recall attending church with Mike and Cathy as a child. They are long term faithful believers and without a doubt Uncle Mike now resides in heaven.
