Max Justus Christensen, age 85, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026.
Max was born to Justus P. and Clara G. Christensen, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth-Ann Christensen; his daughters, Beth Ann (James) Gregory and Nancy Ann Christensen; his brother, Richard (Beverly) Christensen; and two nieces.
Max proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to a strong work ethic and a life of service to others. He worked as the farm manager at Holiday Farm in Ada before beginning a career at Steelcase, where he worked for 20 years until his retirement in 2001.
A man of deep faith, Max was a devoted and faithful Catholic whose beliefs guided him throughout his life. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, dependable, and steadfast man—a person of integrity who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His quiet strength, unwavering character, and love for his family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Max’s greatest joy was the life he built with Ruth-Ann and the family they shared. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 628 Diamond Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503, with visitation one hour prior. Msgr. Edward Hankiewicz presiding. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lowell, Michigan.
