Maurice “Jimmy” Wier III, age 65 of Grand Rapids, passed away July 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parent; Maurice Wier Jr. “Toby” and Margaret “Malloy” Wier. Maurice is survived by his wife, Edna C. Wier; children, Fran (Justin) Toole, Maurice Wier IV, Amanda Wier; grandchildren, Madison Toole, Samuel Toole, Charles Conner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jaunita (Dan) Joyce, Edward (Olivia) Alvarado, Maria Alvarado, Robert Alvarado, Celest (Rose) Alvarado; aunts, Mary Dood, Connie Wier; uncles, David (Diane) Wier, Carl Mosher; many, many nieces and nephews; friends Randy (Kim) Hanna; and beloved canine companion, his chihuahua, Emma. Maurice graduated from Forest Hills Northern High School. He went on to work in the food industry until his retirement from Cheers Restaurant. He enjoyed watching the Tigers and Michigan football. (Go Blue!) In his spare time, he liked to fish and feed the barn cats.
Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Interment will take place at 11am on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Blythefield Memory Gardens, 6200 Brewer Ave NE, Belmont, MI 49306.

Dear Edna and Family: We are so sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing. Jim was the best cook a resturant could have. He worked so hard and will be missed by us and everyone. It was great working with him. He always had a smile and would visit us at our table.
