Maureen Anne (nee Goudzwaard) Verburg, age 86 of Grand Rapids, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 6, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sadie Goudzwaard; brother, Maurice Goudzwaard; and sister, Mina Gortsema. Maureen is survived by her children, Adrian James Verburg II, Nicole Hawley; grandchildren, Payden Hawley, Michael (Alivia) Hawley, Frankie Hawley; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Hudsyn Hawley; brother, John (Deb) Goudzwaard; sister-in-law, Melanie Goudzwaard; brother-in-law, Tom Gortsema; cousin, Marty Berthiaume; and friend, Paula Ball.
Visitation with the family will be held from 3-5PM on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49546. Funeral services will take place at 11AM on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Heritage Reformed Congregation of Grand Rapids, 540 Crescent St. Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49503, with visitation one hour prior. Dr. Joel R. Beeke and Pastor John Byl officiation. Interment Fairplains Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

We will miss our weekly conversation with Maureen. We pray for you AJ and Nicole as you live without your mother. Remember what it says in Psalms 68:5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.” Look unto the Lord Jesus Christ for all things.

Maureen was a dear friend to our family. We met her through Heritage Hill Outreach Ministries around 2016. She was always such a sweetheart to our boys. She loved the Lord Jesus and now she gets to be with him – no more pain, no more night. We cannot wish her back. AJ and Nicole, you will be in our prayers. We will miss her very much.
