Mary Margaret “Margo” Huver, lovingly known as Margo from birth, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in the comfort of her home.
Born December 13, 1940, Margo was the daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Wessely. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1958, where she met her high school sweetheart, Duane “Butch” Huver. They married on August 8, 1959, and together built a life centered on family, hard work, love, and faith.
Margo wore many hats throughout her full and interesting life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, bookkeeper and office manager for the family business, Michigan General Grinding, a realtor and part owner of The Realty Connection, and held many roles at The Westwood Ranch.
Later in life, Margo discovered a love of writing and fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an author. In 2017, she published her first book, The Face in My Window. At the time of her passing, she was putting the finishing touches on her second book, Memories.
Above all, Margo treasured her family and friends. Her greatest legacy will be the love, laughter, stories, and memories she created with those around her.
Margo is survived by her children, Martin; Todd and his wife, Amanda; Anne Mohan; and Daniel and his wife, Mary; grandchildren Ashlee, Megan, Anthony, Joshua, Courtney, Allyson, Jacob, Aric, Paige, and Claire; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, Carol Ann Hentschel and Mark Wessely and his wife, Gloria; sister-in-law Delores Bridgeman; brothers-in-law Al Kowalczyk and Richard Sandborn; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Margo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane “Butch” Huver; her parents, Joseph and Kathryn Wessely; siblings Joni Kowalczyk, John Wessely and his wife, Mary Jean, and Tim Wessely; son-in-law Steve Mohan; niece Katie Wessely; father- and mother-in-law John and Vera Huver; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Marcia Sandborn, Patricia and Marv Nyenhuis, Ed and Rita Huver, John and Rose Huver, Joan and Mike Stearman, Jim Bridgeman, and Carl Hentschel.
Margo lived a life rich in family, love, work, stories, and memories. She leaves behind a family who will forever be grateful that she was theirs.
Her story continues in the hearts of all who loved her—and in the words she left behind.
Visitation will be held 5-8pm, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at O’Brien Eggebeen Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with a Rosary service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am, Thursday, September 10, 2026, with visitation one hour prior at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Rev. Stephen Durkee presiding. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shriners of West Michigan.

Our deepest condolences to all of you. We both have so many fond memories of Margo (& Duane) from the Westwood. She was an amazing person and we will always remember her Wit, Wonderful stories, and her laugh!
