Mary Margaret Cavera

Mary Margaret Cavera (Fitzpatrick), age 75 of Grand Rapids, passed into eternal life the morning of January 29, 2025. Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph III, and Irene (nee Juhasz); her brother, John Jr.; her loving husband of 43 years, David Cavera; and granddaughter, Molly Cavera. Mary Margaret is survived by her stepchildren, David (Kathy) Cavera Jr., JoAnn (Joe) Watson, Fr. Tom Cavera, Daniel (Michelle) Cavera, Steve (Maureen) Cavera; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and nephew, John Joseph Fitzpatrick and his family. Mary Margaret graduated from Magnificat High School in Cleveland and received an undergraduate degree in Existential Phenomenology from John Carroll University. This connection with Cleveland explains her love for the Browns. She was a lifelong fan and season ticket holder for many years. Mary Margaret had a long and distinguished career in the hospitality Industry working in management for various hotel properties. She later received a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College and was an Academic Dean at Davenport University. It is no coincidence that Mary Margaret passed away on the feast day of Saint Julian the Hospitaller who is the patron saint of hospitality – hotel keepers. Mary Margaret also loved and collected all things Disney.  She enjoyed many trips to Disney World with her husband and loved to share her knowledge of Disney with all people. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, February 20th at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one-hour prior. Fr. Tom Cavera, presiding. Interment, Cascade Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maple Ridge Manor Memory Care Unit, 12020 Foreman SE, Lowell, MI 49331.
