Lupe Segovia, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Los Angeles, she carried her warmth, strength, and deep devotion to her family and Catholic faith throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gilbert Segovia. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and family. She was a devoted and loving mother to her four sons: Gil (Kindy), Bob (Theresa), Ed, and Armando (Kerilee). Her family was her greatest pride, and she gave her whole heart to each of them.
She was a cherished grandmother to Andrea (Mike), Andrew, Merideth (Mike), Alex, Lauren, and Danny, and a proud great-grandmother, lovingly known as Yaya, to Ethan, Calvin, Grady, Keller, and Jason. Nothing brought her more joy than having her family together. She loved cooking their favorite meals, sharing treats, and surprising those she loved with thoughtful gifts. Making others feel cared for was simply who she was.
She dedicated many years serving others as a Special Education Paraprofessional with Troy Schools and as an assistant at Clinica Santa Maria in Grand Rapids. She had a natural gift for caring for people, whether comforting a child, helping a patient, or being there for a friend or neighbor. Her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In December, she was blessed to celebrate her 90th birthday surrounded by friends and family, a joyful reflection of the life she lived and the love she gave so freely.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering love for her family, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and at home. Her legacy lives on in the family she treasured and the many lives she touched.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm on Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2750 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Peter Damian presiding, Deacon Michael Hollern concelebrating. Interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery will start at 2PM.
Memorial Contributions in Lupe’s honor may be directed to the Holland Home Benevolent Fund, 2100 Raybrook SE Suite 300 Grand Rapids, MI 49546, or the Daniel J. Donnelly Endowment Education Fund, 2750 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

Such a beautiful obituary, very appropriate for beautiful Aunt Lupita. May her family be comforted with the memories she leaves behind and may her legacy continue to live through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is now resting in peace in the loving arms of Our Heavenly Father and reunited with her beloved husband, Uncle Gilbert. Lovingly, Maria & Jess Segovia III.

Joan and I send our deepest sympathies to the entire Segovia family. Lupe was a beautiful soul and a person of great faith. We, as a family will cherish her memory, friendship and kindness. Rest in eternal peace.
Lupe’s family is a testament to what an incredible woman and mother she was. So full of care, she would mother any guest that crossed her threshold—making you feel immediately like family. She fussed over my children like they were her own and never failed to stuff us full of delicious Mexican food and of course—Lupe’s Spaghetti for the littles. She could say more words in one breath than any person we’ve ever met—sometimes sliding into Spanish where she could say even more words per minute. We always enjoyed hearing stories about when her own boys were young. We will remember her fondly and I will try (but fail) to copy her recipes. Nobody can make Abuelitas spaghetti quite the way Lupe did. Sending our love and thanks for getting to be a tiny part of Lupe’s wonderful life!
Sweet Lupie, rest peacefully. Your dedication and sincerity were evident in everything you did.
You led with kindness, touched countless lives, and I will always be grateful for the privilege of working with you.
My sincere condolences to all the Segovia family.
One of my favorite memories of working at Costello was Lupe. Her kindness knew no bounds. Such a wonderful example she set for us all of how to treat people. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. RIP ♥️.

Her faith was strong and caring when she talked about her family her eyes lit up with joy But now she will live in the heart’s and precious moments and memories.
My condolences to Lupe’s family. I have such fond memories of working with her in Troy. She kept me well fed with her sticky spaghetti and brisket and so many other treats and staples. She is one of the most kind and compassionate people that I have had the privilege to work with. I missed her when our paths split professionally, so many years ago. Even recently thoughts of her came to mind.
May your grief be eased with the loving memories that you have of her.

What a beautiful tribute to such a beautiful lady! Lupe was such an amazing person. Lupe, her parents, brother, & sister were so special. They were loving, kind, generous to all. Lupe instilled those qualities in her four sons & their families. She loved & served our Lord all her life & passed that faith to her beautiful family. She touched so many lives & will be lovingly remembered for the very special person that she was. May she rest in peace in Heaven with all her loved ones who went before her.

Lupe was a truly loving giving person. She was a good sister-I-law. We kept in touch by phone where many times it was a one way conversation. Yes, Lupe could talk fast and update me on so many things happening with her family. I will miss those hour plus calls. Rest in peace love Jennie
Dearest Lupe, May you be at peace in God’s loving arms. You were a wonderful and treasured addition to the staff at Clinica Santa Maria. Always smiling, happy and willing to help others. Your generosity had no bounds. I have so many memories of our wonderful time together, all the phones calls after our retirement, getting to know how much you loved and treasured your family . Your faith was an inspiration and showed in all your daily activities. Lupe will always have a special place in our hearts , will miss the beautiful Christmas and birthday wishes and the phone calls. Our sincere condolences to the Dear Segovia Family, know that you were very much loved by this amazing, beautiful woman that was Blessed by God and a Blessing in your lives.
Dearest ‘Segovia Boys’ and Family, I’m so sorry to have just learned of your Mom’s passing. She was indeed the neighborhood Mom to all of us kids. Always there with a loving smile and warm embrace. I have such fond memories of her showing us how to make tamales; but mostly of her embodying the love that was always present at your house and shaped you boys. I know she will meet God in heaven and be greeted with “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Love and peace to all of you, Karen
Words beautifully written, my Nina Lupita, The Beautiful, person, Inside, and out. I remember summer vacations, visiting my Nina, Nino & my cousins. Some of the memories I hold dear in my heart. One was Nina would curl my hair with clean rags. When finished I had long curls that went down my back. I always loved my Nina’s arroz con pollo, she taught me how to make it. I will cherish all those memories, and all our long talks on the telephone. We laugh and reminisced about many things. She always made everyone feel loved and wanted. You will be missed Nina Lupita but never forgotten. You and my cousins are in my prayers. Love Always Paula Nan and family.
Dear Aunt Lupita,

Thank you for the love, kindness, and compassion you gave so unconditionally to everyone who was fortunate enough to have been in your life . . . especially me ❤️
Rest in Peace Beloved Aunt Lupita
