Kris Ann “Krissy” Holmes, age 67, of Cascade, Michigan, passed away peacefully after a one-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her many loving family members on February 16, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce LeBaron; mother, Fay VanderLaan; sister, Robin LeBaron; father and mother-in-law, William J. Holmes, Sr. and Grace L. Holmes; and beloved grandpets, Lilly Marie and Jules.

Kris is survived and will be missed by her loving husband and best friend of 46 years, John E. Holmes; stepfather, Dale VanderLaan; children, Corey Holmes, Kelly (Ryan) Terpstra; grandchildren, Braden, Kyler, Jakob, Peyton and Aubrie; brothers, Marty (Sue Livingston) LeBaron, Michael LeBaron; sister-in-law, Sr. Marilyn Holmes, OP; brother-in-law, William J. Holmes, Jr. (Mary Ellen);  sister-in-law, Sue (David) St. Onge; nieces and nephews; Will J. Holmes, III (Amy), Erin (Jay) Lile, Shelby LeBaron, Allisa (Edin) Besic; grand nieces and nephews; Jesse and Hannah Holmes, Maliah Fay Wright and Oli Besic; along with many other loving cousins and friends.

Kris worked as a successful sales representative for Mondelez International for over 23 years. She loved boating with her family on Lake Michigan and on the Gulf in Florida. She loved her family’s cottage at Lake Michigan and spent 46 years enjoying it with her family. She treasured for over 23 years, living on Big Whitefish Lake and all the special friends she and John made while living there. She loved wintering on Marco Island, Florida and all the special friends she met while on Marco Island.

She truly was a “special person” who loved to cook fabulous meals and entertain family and friends. She was always a very generous hostess during the holiday seasons, and her family will never forget the efforts she put into these meals. Selfless in all that she did, her family and friends meant the world to her.

Kris was the love of John’s life and was one of the most caring people anyone could ever know.

She lived a wonderful life with her two children and her cherished grandchildren. Kris was incredibly giving and had a remarkable perspective on life. She lovingly cared for John through his serious health issues and John was blessed to return that same devotion to Kris during her one-year battle with cancer.

Though her passing brings profound sadness, the loving memories of Kris will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.

To all Kris’ loving friends and family, we are most appreciative for all your thoughts and prayers. To my sister, Sr. Marilyn Holmes and her Dominican Sisters, a very special thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers. The Holmes family was very appreciative of the selfless time and support that two of their best friends, Kathy and Tim Gleason, spent with her and her family.

The family will not to be having a service for Kris at this time but, will plan a special “Celebration of Life”, this summer at their home. Plans for this will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
