Kenneth Clarence Robach, age 92 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Rita Robach (2013); parents, Clarence & Katherine Robach; brother, Lyle & Nancy Robach; brothers-in-law, Donald Lidgard, Bob Schmidt, Rod & Bernice Schmidt, Thomas Schmidt; and sister-in-law, Judi  & George Palmer. He is survived by his children, Paula & Art Veneklase (Matt & Erin, Mark, and Paul), Maureen & Rick Latimer (John), David & Tricia Robach (Kyle and Connor), Lisa & John Frey (Anna, Edward and Lillian), Teresa & Tim Royce (Kevin & Kate, Brian & Marissa, and Allie (fiancé Vince), Margaret & Tom Merkel (Luke, Lynne and Isaac), John & Kristine Robach (Baili & Brandon (Addilyn, Gracie), and Max), Shawn & John Schuring (Kate, Thomas, Emily, and Madeline); brother, Donald & Kathy Robach; sisters, Lillian Lidgard, Dianna Robach, Barbara Mitchell; sister-in-law, Sr. Paula Schmidt, OSsR; and several nieces and nephews. Ken was a retired United States Postal Service worker, Army veteran, longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, and graduate of Catholic Central.  He was a man of Faith who recited the Rosary daily.  He enjoyed dancing with his wife Mary, belonged to a bowling league, and loved to watch Family Feud with his family. Special thanks to Kelly, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Joan from Emmanuel Hospice who loved our dad and took such wonderful care of him. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 25, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE, Rev. James A. Chelich, presiding. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road, Grand Rapids.  Memorial contributions may be made to Redemptoristine Nuns, 89 Hidden Brooke Dr., Beacon, New York 12508.

  1. Always a kind smile which would light up a room and a gentle word. A remarkable presence that will be greatly missed. Condolences to the entire family. This gentle soul will be welcome in the Kingdom.

  2. A kind soul that always had a smile for me the newcomer to St. Thomas. Deepest condolences to the entire family and hugs from far away to Paula and Art whom I’ve shared many daily masses with. May his memory be eternal.
