Judith “Judy” Ann Monk, age 85 of Marion, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mildred Cole; son, Gregory Monk. Judy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Monk; daughter, Gwen (Marty) Dorris; grandchildren, Dana, Amber, Troy, Kaitlin (John); great grandchildren, Aiden, Lauren, Jayden, Arianna; sisters, Wilma Young (Gary), Linda (Gary) Thompson; brothers-in-law, Harry (Alicia) Monk, Paul (Diane) Monk; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Larry) Collins; and several nieces and nephews.
Judy graduated from Carnegie College in the Medical Assisting program; and went on to work for Grand Rapids Oncology Medical Practice as the Office Manager and retired from Amway as the Executive Administrator in the Cosmetics Department. Before and after retirement, Charles and Judy enjoyed traveling together and with their children. Their travels included Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, most of the western United States and many casinos along the way. She liked to read, and support her Detroit sports teams, her favorite was the Detroit Tigers. Judy treasured her family and her most favorite time was spent with those she loved most.
Funeral services will take place at 2pm on Friday, November 1, 2024, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation one hour prior. Interment Cascade Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations in Judy’s name to the American Cancer Society; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics, or the Christian Worship Hour.
