Joseph Patrick Mooney

Joseph Patrick Mooney, age 52 of Grattan, passed away peacefully February 2, 2024, he will be deeply missed by his family. Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Edna Abrahm. He is survived by his father and mother, John and Peg Hefferan; brothers, Zachary Hefferan, David (Meggan) Hefferan and Daniel Mooney; nieces, Nora and Layla; and nephew, Nolan. Joseph loved dinosaurs, listening to the radio, cheeseburgers, fries, and coke. He was an avid walker who could outwalk his family at any given chance. He was full of life from initiating a fist bump, moonwalking, or displaying his talents bowling. Joseph had a charm about him that lit up a room, and he was often heard reciting his favorite lines and lyrics from movies and songs. He was quick with a smile and had a gentleness about him. The family would like to thank the caregivers and housemates of Sakshaug Group Homes and Old Town Adult Foster Care for their gentle care, support, and friendship for Joseph. Also, to all the people who gave Joseph great and kind caring support. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11:00 am, Friday, February 16, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Ave NE, Ada, MI 49301.

  1. May Joey rest in peace & his family, who gave so much throughout his life find peace in wonderful memories of this delightful young man. Always ready with a smile and a hug even when he barely knew you. Huge hugs & prayers to family & friends.

  6. My name being the same as his , he always had a big hey Joe, and that rascally smile. Seems Joey always had time for a short conversation. Makes you wonder doesn’t it, why can’t all of us!! So sorry Peggy and Denny a great loss.
