In Loving Memory of John Morse Duursma. John Morse Duursma, aged 64, of Grand Rapids, embarked on his final journey on Monday, August 21, 2023, surrounded by his wife, Teresa Duursma, whom he shared twenty-eight beautiful years and five years of marriage with. His legacy lives on through his adoring children: Emily (Michael) Tennessee, Heidi Duursma, Matthew (Danielle) Duursma, and stepchildren; Terry Trujillo, and Ray (Nikki) Harig.
John leaves behind brother, Scott (Sherri) Duursma, and sisters, Tracy (Thomas) Rosenbach and Rebecca (David) Draaisma. He found joy in the extended family he embraced: Robert Howe, Marilyn Cox, Clara Bargo, Walter (Carol) Howe, and Paul (Linda) Howe.
His heart expanded even further with the addition of twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love he shared with his family.
John found solace in long walks, the warmth of family gatherings, cooking, and his career as a tool and die engineer. He generously devoted his time to volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and the homeless shelters in the Grand Rapids community.
While we mourn his earthly departure, we rejoice in the memory of a man who touched many lives with love, laughter, and kindness.
A private family memorial service will be held on September 17, 2023, in Morley, Michigan, where we will come together to celebrate his life, a legacy of love, and the everlasting spirit of John Morse Duursma.
