Joseph John O’Brien, age 67, of Grand Rapids, passed away Ocotber, 10, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert O’Brien; brother, John Robert O’Brien Jr.; brother-in-law, Craig Eisen. Joseph is survived by his mother, Barbara O’Brien; sister, Ruth Eisen; niece, Erin (Jon) Tobaison; nephew, Travis (Kelsey) Eisen; and great nieces and nephews, Declan, Connor, and Finley Dean, Kian Tobaison, Presely and Levi Eisen.
He was a man who found joy in the simplicity of life, whether it was watching deer and turkeys in his yard or cherishing time spent with his family. Joe had a special bond with his great nieces and nephews, delighting in the joy they found while hunting for Easter eggs each year. His warm, welcoming smile and kind heart were ever-present, making him a beloved figure to all who knew him. Joe was always eager to welcome visitors, sharing stories, laughter, and a genuine sense of hospitality. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy of love, kindness, and appreciation for the beauty of life will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Holy Spirit Parish, 2230 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49504, with visitation one hour prior.
