John “Jay” Rysdyk Jr., 59, passed away on August 28, 2026.
Born to John R. Rysdyk Sr. and Grace A. Rysdyk, Jay lived with physical and mental challenges. He had a sharp wit and found joy in the simple things.
Jay was deeply loved by his parents. Grace preceded him in death, and the family finds comfort in the promise of their joyful reunion.
For more than 30 years, Jay lived at David’s House Ministries, where he received excellent physical, spiritual, and emotional care. He also enjoyed his annual visits to Indian Trails Camp.
Jay loved his “protector,” Mr. T.; Burger King Rodeo Burgers; the Game Show Network; keeping track of his friend lists; and all things Mountain Dew, especially his beloved Mt. Dew hat. He regularly called family and friends to stay connected, and those who knew him will remember the joy he found in maintaining those relationships.
Jay’s Christian faith gives his loved ones comfort and confidence that he is now at peace in God’s presence, free from the physical limitations he carried in this life. They trust that he has been fully restored and imagine him with a clear mind, renewed strength, and a body made whole.
He is survived by his father, John Rysdyk Sr., and wife, Gina; his sister, Kim, and husband, Bruce; his sister, Lori, and husband, Todd Terpstra; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A private burial has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 11am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at David’s House Ministries, 2251 Hope Grove Ave., Wyoming, Michigan 49509, House 3.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to David’s House Ministries or Indian Trails Camp, O-1859 Lake Michigan Dr. NW Grand Rapids, MI 49534
