John “Jack” Lewis Vasell (age 74) of Grand Rapids passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 4, 2025. Preceded in death by parents, Albert and Cecile Vasell; brothers, Lawerence and Raymond, brothers-in-law, Richard, Steven, and Raymond Kuzawa, and niece, Ann Boman. Surviving are: wife, Nancy; children, John (Kathy), Shawn (Erin), Christopher, Peter (Angel), and Michael (Kelly); sister, Pat Brady (Jim); sisters-in-law, Mary Boman and Maureen Kuzawa; grandchildren, Jack, Audrey, Benjamin, Will, Henry, Jacob, Adeline, Margaret, August, Patrick and Davis; close friend Pete Diaz, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other friends he loved.
John lived a life with a deep faith and love for his family. He was a pillar of strength, and his legacy is one of love, laughter, and always being there for his family and friends. He cherished family time, and his presence and smile brought a special warmth to those around him.
John had many passions in life, including walking, fishing, talking, listening, cooking, playing games, and sharing laughter with his wife, children, and eleven grandchildren. He was great at giving advice whether you wanted it or not. He possessed the strongest of work ethics and his creative mind was never at rest, constantly engaged in creating, inventing, fixing, building, and leaving our world better than he found it.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place January 10, 2025, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 11am, 1935 Plymouth Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Degage Ministries at https://degageministries.org/

Nancy, I am so sorry you lost Jack. He was in mu homeroom for 4 years. S very nice guy. I lost my Jim in September so my girls and I know how you feel. Now, I am traveling with his picture to our favorite places. My prayers are with you and your family. Ii am writing my story of my 50 years with Jim. That way our grandkids will know his story
