Our beloved Mother and Grammie, Joanna Ellen Braun (née Fyffe-Barinotti), passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in Lowell, Michigan.  She was 87 years old.

She was born to Martha and Albert Fyffe on June 4, 1935, in Flint, Michigan.  Her mother remarried when she was young and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Joseph Barinotti.

Joanna spent her school age years in Cadillac, MI and was graduated from Western Michigan University in 1955 with a degree in Fine Arts.  She worked for many years as an art teacher in East Grand Rapids and Ada and was active in Grand Valley Artists throughout the 1970-80s.  Her passion was watercolor paintings, in particular of flowers and gardens, and many of these beautiful works can be found in the homes and offices of her patrons around West Michigan.

She leaves behind her brother Michael (Maggie) Barinotti, Saint Louis, MO; sister Harriet (Jack) Patrick, Madison, WI; and brother Edward Fyffe, Honolulu, HI.  Also, her children Robert (Ilana) Braun, Miami, FL; Joseph (Elizabeth) Braun, Rockford, MI; James (Jane) Braun, Ada, MI; and Brendan Braun, Franklin, TN.  Also, grandchildren Theo Braun and Lola Braun, Miami, FL; Nicholas Braun, Melbourne, FL; Justin Braun, Rockford, MI; James Braun and Thomas Braun, Ada, MI; and Jake Braun and Sarah Braun, Franklin, TN.

Tremendous thanks and love to the staff of Fountain View of Lowell and The Care Team Hospice.  Their caring and compassion was invaluable.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.  The family requests that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
