Joan McFadden Mead passed from her earthly home into her heavenly home in the early morning of June 24, 2025. She is now reunited with her Savior and the love of her life, Dan, who she greatly missed.
Joan lived a long and full life, 1 month past her 95 birthday. She loved traveling with Dan. Joan enjoyed spending time with friends, reading, and golfing, but above all she cherished the time spent with her family. She had a servant’s heart, from giving you the shirt off her back to wallpapering your kitchen or even painting your bathroom, Joan was always willing to help others.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel E. Mead; son, Steven Mead; mother, Irene McFadden; father, Vincent McFadden. She was the last surviving sibling, preceding her – Daniel, Patrick, Larry, Gordon, Victor, Al, Gerry Ann and their spouses. Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children, Ann (Tom) Ensing, Jody Mead, Sheila Mead, John Mead, Patrick Mead, Maureen Mead; grandchildren, Matthew (Wendy) Ensing, Sarah Ensing, Daniel (Sarah) Mead, Irene Mead, Frances and Sylvia Sheets, Nova and Stella Main, Dominick and Kellen Mead; and great grandson, Edward Ensing.
The family will greet friends and relatives on from 3-8pm on Monday, June 30, 2025, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546, with the Rosary recited at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Drive SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506, with visitation one hour prior.
