Joan Carroll Snyder

Joan “Joanie” Snyder of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on October 18, 2023, from a quick battle with pancreatic cancer. Joanie is preceded in death by her father, Neal Carroll; mother, Leone Carroll; and her brothers, Paul and Kenny Carroll. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, George; her sons, Stephen (Annie), Kevin and Alan (Nicole); and her grandchildren, whom she adored, Sila, Sullivan, Brooks, and Nolan. Her memory lives on in her siblings, Dan (Carolynne) Carroll, Marilyn Carroll Kane, David Carroll, and Tom (Beth) Carroll. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and a host of long-time friends. Joanie had a passion for serving others and organizing events, reunions, and vacations to bring her friends and family closer together. She was an active supporter of the arts, and her involvement in charitable organizations is too numerous to list.

There will be a visitation to honor Joanie’s memory at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 on11/1/2023 from 4-7pm, a funeral Mass at Saint Stephen Catholic Church, 750 Gladstone Dr SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506 on 11/2 at 1:30pm and a celebration of life at Watermark Country Club, 1600 Galbraith Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 on 11/2 from 4 – 7:30pm.

  1. Having worked with Alan and George, I had the pleasure of meeting Joanie. Her graciousness and love of life was obvious, as was the devotion to and from her family.
    My heart aches for your loss.
