Jack Tompkins, age 96, of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Betty Tompkins; his son, Scott Tompkins; and his son-in-law, Scott Kurth.
Jack is survived by his children, Brian (Maureen) Tompkins, Jeff (Juliet) Tompkins, Lisa Kurth, Kevin (Mary) Tompkins, and Monique (Larry) Bartosh; his daughter-in-law, Amy Tompkins; 18 grandchildren; and many, many great-grandchildren.
Jack graduated from Union High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He later retired as a supervisor from Amway. Jack enjoyed arts and crafts, square dancing, and traveling—especially to Gulf Shores, Texas, and Arizona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Parish, 9669 Kraft Ave. SE, Caledonia, MI 49316, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Michael Cilibraise and Deacon Michael Hollern will preside. Interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
