Glendon “Andy” F. Swanson, age 91, of Grand Rapids, entered into eternity to be with his Lord on Friday, December 19, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Joseph Hooker; brother-in-law, Fred Howard; and sister-in-law, Sonja Swanson.
Glen is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris Marie (née Howard) Swanson; sons, Andy (Lisa) Swanson, Tim (Carrie) Swanson, and Tom (Nickie) Swanson; daughter, Kathleen Marie Swanson Buzzitta (Steve Schmeling); grandchildren, Lyndsey (Brett) Schnieder, Brice (Stephanie) Swanson, Christopher (Alisha) Swanson, Candice (Brandon) Young, Angel (Ryan) Newman, Justin (Danielle) Hooker, Nicolas (Lexi) Krieger, Cody (Emily) Swanson, and Lexi (Matt) Ackerberg; great-grandchildren, Easton and Lyra Schnieder, Mia Hawley, Cayla and Maci Young, Natalie and Adam Swanson, Viola and Jace Hooker, and Stella and Isabella Newman; brothers, Col. Ronald (Janie) Swanson and Russell (Sharyn) Swanson; brother-in-law, Ronald (Marion) Howard; and sister-in-law, Lila Howard.
Glen was employed by several companies over the years, including Meijer, General Motors Body by Fisher. He also owned and operated Wyoming Gun and Tackle. He enjoyed playing the steel guitar and sang with the Swanson Brothers, as well as serving as song leader at Newhall Baptist Church. Glen was also the Chaplain of the Michigan Knights of the Highway Motor Home Club.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at West Cannon Baptist Church, 5760 Cannonsburg Rd. NE, Belmont, MI 49306. A luncheon following at the church.
