Gail Dewey Cobb, age 88 of Ada, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family, Monday, November 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye Cobb.
Gail is survived by his daughter, Robbin (Kenyon) Knuth; grandchildren, Shawna (Larry) Wood, Angela (Dan) Rausch, Christi (Nick) Pedala, and Kyle Phillips; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy and Elna; and his amazing friends, Ron, Wade, Jeff, Susan, Diane, Donn, Dale, and Jamie, to whom the family extends special thanks.
Gail owned and operated G. Cobb Excavating and Cobb Farms Peat & Top Soil. He enjoyed hunting, but his greatest passion was racing. His love for the sport began in 1958 after attending races at the Grand Rapids Speedrome with friends. He returned home and built his first race car—beginning a lifelong racing career.
Over the years, Gail raced Super Modifieds, Late Models, Stock Cars, Zoo-Mods, and Street Stocks at many tracks, including the Grand Rapids Speedrome, Berlin Raceway, Kalamazoo Speedway, Spartan Speedway, Hartford Speedway, Mottville Speedway, South Bend Motor Speedway, Baer Field Raceway, Jackson Motor Speedway, Northern Michigan Speedway, Galesburg Speedway, Owosso Speedway, I-96 Speedway, and Winchester Speedway in Indiana.
Throughout his career, Gail earned at least 87 feature wins, was a track champion, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. His legacy on the track will live on forever.
