Frances Devra Schweitzer

Frances Devra Schweitzer, age 81 of Cascade Township, peacefully passed away at home on the family farm surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, September 25, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jim Schweitzer; parents, Jacob & Marion Moerdyke; sister, Kathy Modlin. Fran is survived by her loving daughter, Kim (Gary) Cook; grandson, Brandon (Alisha) Cook; sister, Jaklyn (Jim) Morse; and several nieces and nephews.

Fran was born and raised on the family farm in Cascade Township, where she went on to raise her own family. She was an accomplished Equestrian, decorated with many trophies and ribbons for her work with her Arabian horses. Fran enjoyed the times spent on the farm with family and friends raising horses, training, and preparing for shows. She enjoyed the outdoors and the many colors of her flower gardens. Fran retired from Metro Hospital after 40 years of service in the IT department. In her later years, she liked to travel. She enjoyed the Amish country of Ohio, the mountains of Tennessee, and the dry heat of Tucson, Arizona, where she visited friends and family.

Visitation with the family will be held at 10am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am on Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301. Rev. Tony Russo presiding. Interment Cascade Township, followed by a luncheon at the family farm. Beautiful weekend together, thank you so much for everything you’ve given us..the memories, the laughter, the lessons, the life wisdom. I know you are with us always…watching over us.   8. I’m so sorry for your loss my friend but I know God is giving you and your family His peace in this time of loss. He will restore all things through His son Jesus Christ and all who believe in Him will be reunited. This is not a “goodbye” to mom but a “see you soon”. Holding you up in loving prayer!     Aunt Fran has been a true blessing in my life, shared common interests to those times of question in my life growing up.
