Florence A. Mikrut, age 97 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Sunday, April 30, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isidore; sons, Joseph and Daniel; grandson, James; sisters, Helen Salkiewicz, Mary Kozal, Bernice Purdy; sons-in-law, Dave, Joe, and Kevin; and best friend Josie Sandusky. Florence is survived by her children, Michalene Mikula, Pam (Tom Joyce) Belcher, Patrick (Cindy) Mikrut, Janet (Ken) Butts, Ted Mikrut, Kathy (Kenny) Cordell, Billy (Kay) Mikrut, Sherry (John) Gallagher, Marcia (John) Frederick, Monica (Joe) Thienes; grandchildren, Diana, Shannon, Nick, Mike Joseph, Elizabeth, Jacob, Michael, Tim, Andy, Joshua, Adam, Kristie, James, Nate, Kim, Jerimie, Kenny, Matt, Danny, Alexandra, Vicky, Danny, Nicole, Danny, Josh, Sarah, Chris, Amanda, Michelle, Erin, Sean, Ryan, John John, Colin, Brendan, David, Daniel, Darren, Charlie, Lauren, and Katelyn; 75 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. Florence retired from The Grand Rapids Press after many years of dedicated service. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo, Dominoes, and trying her luck at the slot machines. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with a rosary at 8:30pm. Prayer service will take place at 9:30am on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, May 5, 2023, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 628 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Msgr. Edward Hankiewicz presiding. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her honor can be directed to St. Isidore Catholic Church.

What a kind and loving women, she will be missed by so many but heaven will certainly be a brighter place with her there! Prayers to Monica and Joe and the other family members as they say goodbye to this wonderful lady❤️
My aunt Florence was the the most beautiful lady I ever new. She is the rock of her family and I will never see a person like her in my life time again. With all our love may she R.I.P. Tom & Linda Kozal.
