Eugene “Gene” Waller Cederquist

Eugene “Gene” Waller Cederquist, age 98 of Grand Rapids, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army Airforce, stationed in Guam for most of his tour. Gene was a loving husband and father clearly shown as he and Jean adopted Deana and Michael, who were their pride and joy. He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved to deer hunt. Gene was a quiet man, who will be  lovingly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Cederquist; son, Randy Cederquist; sister-in-law, Joan Maxwell; and brothers-in-law, Bill Johnson and Gerald Johnson. Gene is survived by daughter, Deana Beckner; son, Michael Cederquist; half-siblings, Carl Cederquist, Carolyn Rykert; brother-in-law, Martin Johnson; 6 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends and relatives from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Funeral services will be Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301, with visitation one hour prior. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
