Edward Nausieda Jr., age 76, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Born in Grand Rapids in March 1950, Ed was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Rogers High School before earning his Journeyman’s certification in Tool and Die. He dedicated more than 32 years of his career to General Motors. Following his retirement, Ed continued to serve his community by performing maintenance work at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, where he took great pride in caring for the parish.
Ed was a man of deep faith, devoted to his family and grateful for the many friendships he cherished throughout his life. A gifted athlete, he had a lifelong passion for sports and seemed to excel at everything he tried. Golf, basketball, softball, hockey, racquetball, and bowling were among his favorites. Luck also seemed to follow him wherever he went. One of his most memorable moments came when he scored a hole-in-one during a charity golf outing, winning a brand-new Ford truck. With a smile, he would often say, “I’d rather be lucky than good!”
Ed loved working with his hands and found great satisfaction in construction, remodeling, and tackling home repair projects. He generously shared his talents, always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbors—usually with a cup of coffee in hand. He also made Sunday brunch a treasured family tradition, serving his famous omelets and homemade waffles. Ed took great pride in his vegetable garden, where he grew a variety of vegetables, especially his beloved tomatoes and green beans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Ed Nausieda Sr.; and his in-laws, Joyce and Bill Johnson. Ed is survived by his loving wife Terri; his children, Edward (Yvonne) Nausieda III, Erin Nausieda (Rebecca Boehm); his grandchildren, Arielle Nausieda and Sierra Nausieda; his siblings, Rick (Vicki) Nausieda, Pat (Randy) Bogard, MaryBeth (Matt) Underhill; his sister-in-law, Chris Johnson (Mark Mansfield); brother-in-law, Bill (Phyllis) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will greet friends and relatives from 5-7PM on Monday, June 29, 2026, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Drive SE, Ada, Michigan 49301, with visitation starting at 10:30AM. Fr. Tony Russo and Fr. Len Sudlik concelebrating. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Association of Cancer Research.

My heart goes out to you. Gone to soon. So many great memories of the boys playing basket ball and Ed being right out there too. Also Ed practicing his golf in the front yard, then he won the hole in one contest that won him his truck. That was amazing. May God continue to get you thru this and know your neighbors care.
Terri and family. ..so many memories. I am so thankful for the good times we spent with you. Disney with our kids, Marco Island, the East Coast trip, the cruise to the Bahamas and visiting you at the lake in the summer with our families. We are so sad to lose such a wonderful friend. But, we have so many good memories to sustain us. Ed was the best. We keep you all close in our hearts. Sending love and hugs.
Terri your dedication and love im sure helped Ed get through the rough times these last few years. I have many fun memories of our times on murray lake. You and your family will be in my prayers.
Ed with that cup of coffee in hand getting ready to leave for work after a good meal as the rest of us are starting to play poker. I can see that picture clearly in my mind’s eye. I’m very sorry for your loss, Terri and family. Ed was a gem of a guy.
Our hearts go out to your family in this time of loss. Edward brought so much to his family and community. He left this world, church, and Grand Rapids better places through his family and works. May the joy of his legacy and memory warm your hearts forever.
Terri, I have great memories of camping with you guys and going to 4th of July celebrations when our kids were small. Also, we would ask Ed to yell at the kids when they were miss-behaving as he had that big booming voice that they would listen to. Ed,(caffeine Eddie) will be greatly missed and I am sorry for you loss.
Terri, it was a long struggle for Ed and he certainly fought it the best he could and marveled at his strength. I do miss picking up a few golf balls from my yard when they did not go where Ed wanted!
Terri and the entire Nausieda family, I am very sorry at the passing of Ed. He was always a wonderful human being. I loved his quirky humor and he always seemed to have a smile on his face. So many fond memories.
I hope that you take solace in knowing that he is at peace now and not hurting. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
