Dr. Michael T. Bodley MD

Dr. Michael T. Bodley, MD, age 81, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie T. Bodley and Margaret Ann (Becker) Bodley; sisters, Shirley Gamble, and Susan Phillips; in-laws, Lenni (Al) and Ann Voutila; and pets, Clancy, Teddy, Coco, Paddy, and Cassie. Michael is survived by his wife, Sandra Carpenter Bodley; children, David (Michelle Brinker-Bodley) Bodley, Dr. Lisa (Aaron) Sprague, stepchildren, Dr. Chris (Panechanh) Carpenter, Stephanie (Craig) Thornton, Jon (Becky) Carpenter; grandchildren, Grant and Chloe Sprague, Cameron and Kayla Carpenter, Lauren, Reagan, and Emme Carpenter, Rhea and Jace Thornton; sisters-in-law, Sue Voutila Albrecht (Winston Prothro), and Kim Voutila (Dell Paielli). Michael graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science, and his medical degree. He served in the United States Army and went on after college to become a doctor of internal medicine at Spectrum Health. Michael enjoyed time with his dogs, all things Michigan Football, and watching his grandkids compete in sporting events or perform in musicals. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Keystone Community Church, 655 Spaulding Ave. SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one-hour prior. Rev. Brady Nemmers officiating. In lieu of flowers please make contributions may be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan, 3077 Wilson Dr NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534.

    I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Mike’s passing. I will always remember him as having a wonderful sense of humor, and with the most infectious laugh. He was also a very kind and compassionate man. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

  2. I lost a longtime friend and colleague. I enjoyed the many times that we worked together with mutual patients. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of loss.
