Diane L. Flatt, age 62 of Grand Rapids, passed away November 6, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Brillant; mother, Jo Ann (Bob) Hommes. Diane is survived by her husband, Keith Flatt; brother, Steven Brillant; stepmother, Sharon Brillant; sister-in-law, Kristi Flatt; brother-in-law, John (Karen) Flatt; stepsisters, Lynne (Scott) Grinwis, Kathy (Tim) Tabor, Jill (Shawn) MacDougall; several nieces and nephews; and canine companion, Scarlett.
If anyone is asked how we would like to be remembered, not one of us I believe, would start by outlining the struggles we encountered on our physical life journey. Diane struggled, but Diane loved. Diane understood and cared for the human condition. Diane was a champion of innocence, the voiceless and the underserved and made an impassioned response to those in need. She saw other people’s struggles and wanted to make a difference. Diane did make a difference without horn blowing or accolades. May her humble example shine and mirror Diane’s goodness that she saw in all people.
Family will greet friends and relatives from 1-3pm on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 Fulton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with Memorial services starting at 3pm. Pastor Dan Schewe officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, 300 68th St. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49548, or Trinty Lutheran Church.
