Cynthia “Cindy” Saldaña

Cynthia “Cindy” Saldaña, 63, of Lowell, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 24, surrounded by her family and held in God’s grace.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Cindy was the third of four children of Ellen and Lawrence (“Lorny”) Jump. From the beginning, she was small but mighty—brilliant, determined, and full of quiet strength. She worked her way through college, driven by the desire to provide a better life for the family she hoped for. Her sharp mind and work ethic guided her through a successful career as an accountant in the oil and gas industry, where she steadily rose through the ranks.

In November 2024, Cindy was diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM), a challenge she faced with the same courage, faith, and resilience that defined her life. Throughout her illness, she remained anchored by her Catholic faith and by the love that surrounded her. She offered her suffering with grace, trusting in God’s plan and repeating her lifelong belief that “Everything happens for a reason.”

Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, Mike Saldaña, and her loving daughters Julia (Evan) Perry and Rebecca (Steven) Hoeksema. She was a cherished Nonna to her grandchildren—Evelyn, Blake, and Charlotte—who brought her immeasurable joy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellen and Lawrence Jump and by her beloved dog, Izzy, who was a constant and loyal companion.

Cindy will be remembered for her quick wit, her love of puzzles and word games, and the simple joy she found in football Saturdays with her children. She was happiest in the kitchen during the holidays, sharing her famous stuffing, spaghetti sauce, and Italian soup (Nonna’s Soup)—recipes made with love and passed down with pride. Her home was often filled with the sound of her favorite ’80s rock, music she loved to belt out in the car or play while cooking, turning everyday moments into memories.

Cindy was gentle, vibrant, and mighty in ways that left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Though small in stature, her love was vast, her faith unwavering, and her presence unforgettable. The family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her parents and resting in the arms of the Lord.

The family welcomes floral tributes while also inviting those who wish to honor Cindy’s memory through donations to National Brain Tumor Society, helping to bring hope to others facing this cruel disease. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson Street SE, Lowell, Michigan 49331. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place after the service at Oakwood Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Lowell VFW, 3124 Alden Nash Avenue SE, Lowell, Michigan 49331.
