Catherine F. (Kay) Buzzitta, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and kindness. Her family and her faith were at the heart of her entire life.
Kay was born on May 27, 1933, to Joseph and Mary (Russo) Mulé in Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis V. Buzzitta; dear siblings, Richard Mulé, Jeannie Russo, Josephine (Dolly) Coniglio. She is survived by her cherished children, Dr. James V. Buzzitta, Joseph (Susan) Buzzitta, Diane Buzzitta; precious grandchildren, Dr. Kristin (Michael) Jacob, Jack Buzzitta, Sara (David) Buzzitta-Johnson, Catherine (Greg) Kaiser, Michael Buzzitta, Mary (Dr. Joel) Szymanski, Matthew (Chelsea) Buzzitta. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Anna and Eve Kaiser, Jacob, Emma, and Jonah Szymanski, Penelope Buzzitta, Vincent, Grace, and Louis Jacob.
A deeply religious woman, Kay was passionate about her Catholic faith. She inspired many to recite the rosary. Always remembering her humble beginnings, her generosity and philanthropy benefited many area charities, mostly centered on education, health care, children, and catholic charities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1935 Plymouth Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation from 10am-11am. Fr. Mark Przybysz presiding. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
In memory of Catherine Buzzitta’s life, the family asks that any charitable donation be made to “The Luminaries of Holy Mary”, a US group dedicated to the message of Fatima and in support of Alianca de Santa Maria, 3022 Ingelow Lane, Charlotte, NC 28226.
