Bruce Douglas “Doug” Jolman, 80, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on April 18, 2025.
Born in Grand Rapids, Doug graduated from Creston High School in 1962 and proudly served in the National Guard. His greatest joy was being a Shriner member to raise money for children and where he built some lasting friendships that he held dear to his heart.
He was known for his exceptional mechanical skills and deep love of home restoration — talents he put to good use throughout his careers at Darling Freight/Keyline, the City of Public Works, Steelcase, and Herrema Plumbing.
Doug was a gifted artist and writer — his sketches left a lasting impression on those lucky enough to see them. He had a passion for fast and cool cars, loved antiquing, and had a sharp eye for finding unique treasures. When his collections outgrew the space to hold them, Doug poured his energy into genealogy, often visiting and caring for family cemeteries as he uncovered generations of history.
Doug is survived by his loving daughters, Jodi (Kerry) Smith and Vicki (Craig) Holmes; and his cherished grandchildren, Julia (Ryan) Delamar, Rachel Holmes, and David Holmes.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his generous heart — especially for those often overlooked — and his unwavering spirit of kindness. Doug had a special way of making strangers feel like friends and always rooted for the underdog.
In honor of his life, the family asks that contributions be made to a local cause or charity close to your heart. Raise a glass of Crown Royal and toast to Doug with a smile — just the way he would’ve wanted.
Private services will be held at a later date.
