Beatrice “Bea” Lou Doody

Beatrice “Bea” Lou Doody, aged 89, of Cascade passed away May 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack”; parents, Antonio and Stephanie Franchi; brother, Dominic Franchi; brothers-in-law, Donald Doody Sr., William Doody, James Doody, Robert Doody; sisters-in-law, Agnes Murphy and Lorene Doody.

Bea is survived and missed deeply by; her children, Barbara (Jerry) O’Neal, Tony Doody, Greg Doody, Kathy (John) Deederly, Kristy (Bob) Flannery; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren: 6 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law and dear friend, Deanna Doody; sister-in-law Karen Franchi; many nieces and nephews including Connie Castro, Don Doody jr., Angelo Franchi; and her pug Lucy.

She graduated from Catholic Central, and soon after married the love of her life, John (Jack). They were married for 53 years until his passing, raised a family, and had many adventures together. She stayed home with the kids until they all entered grade school and then started her sewing career at Steelcase. Bea and Jack loved spending time at their beloved cottage “up north” at Big Star Lake. After his passing she looked forward to the ride up north with her grandkids Danielle, Lexi, and Jack.

Bea was quick witted and the first to make anyone laugh. She loved fiercely and was loved back in return. She will be deeply missed by all, but we are comforted by the memories we have shared that will be passed down by many generations.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff on the Critical Care floor at Blodgett, and Corewell Hospice, for their care and compassion for her and family. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Corewell Palliative Care, especially nurse Carol, for helping maintain her quality of life for the last 3 years.

Visitation will take place 5-7pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding.
