Barbara A. Smith, aged 81 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Ed Hines. She is survived by William, her husband of 61 years, and their 6 children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; 4 brothers, 1 sister and their spouses and families. Barbara had a love of family and faith. She was a powerful example of a stoic, selfless, spirited, brave, remarkable, special and wonderful person. “My circle was my everything and meant the world to me. I love you all.” Visitation will be Monday, July 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE with a Rosary at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, July 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr., SE, Rev. Leonard Sudlik, presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids H.Q. Home for Teens (HQgr.org) or a teen home in your community. Barb’s last words were ‘Tell my circle I love them.”

Barb was a wonderful lady and I will always cherish the short time I got to spend with her. She loved her family deeply and was a blessing to her friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as they deal with the loss of a remarkable lady.
