Alfred Ward Miller of Lowell MI, age 92, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024, of congestive heart failure. He was much loved by his family and friends, who will miss him greatly. He was born in Vestaburg, Michigan to Dorothy Ward and Arlie Strait on August 5, 1931. His early life was spent in Vestaburg at the home of his grandparents, Will and Grace Ward. His family later moved to the Lowell area where Alfred grew up, graduated from Lowell High School, and worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the Navy. He spent his enlistment in the Pacific arena, spending most of his time on a repair ship in the Korean War. While stationed in Bremerton, Washington, he met Nancy Elizabeth Kincheloe whom he married and brought back to Michigan to continue working on the family farm. Two years later, when I-96 was built through the middle of the farm he sought work in Grand Rapids, eventually becoming the lead counterman for several companies, winning accolades in the industry for his accomplishments. Upon his retirement he did volunteer work for the Sheriff’s department, and several non-profit organizations. Alfred enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, friends and serving in his church, First Baptist Church of Alto. His hobbies were camping, hunting, fishing, and reading, but his utmost desire was to live righteously for the Lord Jesus Christ.
